This one's a bit delayed but who cares? Not like anyone reads these anyway.
Rogues 1-8
(Yes, they call them rogues.)
Deep underground, in the city of Lukuss, a Yakuza of sorts prospers. So much they even afford having prize fights, using people. One such person, Ichise, after winning one such fight, takes his money and roams about the street. He sees to much, and loses his arm and leg. After stumbling about alot, he lands on the doorsteps of mad and sexy doctor lady, who fits him with a pair of mechanical limbs. That's the premise.
Story- It's by lain and Haibane's creator, and that says something. It's covered in layers, and it takes some peeling to get to, but the story is one of an enviroment that is built to be believable. Each person has a story in it, and together they make one vast mess, that if you unseperate, you won't be let down. (Unless you hate psuedo-phsycology techno crap). I say 4.5.
Art- If any show could get the art for richness, this should. The art is incredibly detailed for this grungy city. Each pipe is drawn in on each scene of a sewer. Each brick is on the cobblestone road. Nothing is left behind. Ever. The people have a revolutionary turn too. They don't all have a distinctive look. Not all the clothing tells you who they are. Often it takes time to decide if it's the sword guy, or some other cronie. It's all done by faces and hair. This series is by far the best looking, and (it suits it well) most realistic. 5.
Sound- With a name like Texhnolyze, whaddya expect? It's filled with heavy techno stuff. Not just, though. Sometimes it wouldn't suit the mood, so it also uses some softer, quieter stuff. Only if it suits the mood still. Most the time, it lets silence do the talking. Incredible atmosphere is generated. Voices are far and few, but still seem right. It gets a 4.5.
All together- Texhnolyze is not a particularly "fun" series. It's designed to give atmosphere of a corrupt, grimy city, so humor suits it poorly. It could easily get rid of the personal feel and just explore this place it created. Just remember, it probably was made to be confusing as possible, so be ready to rewind and play back some points, or watch it a few times. Sorting it out afterwards for each of the four main players helps too. Unbelievably awesome series. My favorite so far.
