Stomach flu sucks. Alot. Not eating because of said illness is not that great either. I did have time to watch One Piece during it, so all is not lost.
E.P. 1-30
Pirates, argh, be the name of the game in One Piece. Get the treasure, kill the peasents, and run around drunk for a while. In a small island, however, there is a young boy with his own idea of what pirates are. Sail around with a bunch of people, stopping every once and a while to see the sights. That usually starts fights, and he is always in them. Thing is, the guy can't swim. A non-swimming pirate has little hope, unless, of course, he eats a fruit that turns him to rubber. You'll have to watch to understand.
The story is something they set a pattern to perfectly. Each mini-plot takes time to introduce all the characters for it, get Luffy and the crew in, have some big occurance, and than a fight. Seems formulaic, but it works every time. It lets it last just long enough to really make sense, but it doesn't drag on for too long like DBZ. A 4.
The art is a mixed bag, and it's easy to tell. The characters are the standard fare, but backgrounds and things like tears and blood are done in watercolor. It's really an impressive thing, but the characters both look a bit out of place and a bit dull next to it. A 4.
The sound is themed to the series. The music is the orchestrated adventure stuff, or during particular pressure, becomes a form of rock, while the sfx are definitely something they had fun with. You have to hear it yourself, but a 4.5.
Overall, One Piece is a great anime. It has humor, but it has a plot in it. It is worth a look, at very least, from everyone. A 4.5 total.
