Movies are great; they give depth and greatness all in one burst. They always come complete, you’ve got it all right there. A woman strips off her clothes, jumps off a building, becomes invisible, assassinates a guy on the way down, and scores a 10-point landing. This is the spirit of Ghost in the Shell in, well, a nutshell. In the future, bodies are becoming obsolete. Anything you could do, you could do better by getting that part replaced. Even brains are programmed into computers and thrown out. The ghost is a hacker that wired himself (itself?) into the web and controls robots from there. He is causing quite a ruckus. Two cops, who have been thoroughly redone, are after him. It’s a great story, and excellently done. The ending gets no where fast, though. It’s good, just too short. Movies are so much easier to grade story wise. 4. The art is awesome. The design is realistic, and they even had an entire team design weaponry. It is beautiful. The animation is great, and all together the strongest suit. 5. The sound just bowled right through my mind. It isn’t good enough to be remembered. Some bits are good though. SFX are great for explosions, tanks, and weaponry. 3.5. Overall it’s a good movie. Like Akira, a little more mature, and serious (it's by the same creators!). It has some great humor. It is just good, in an intangible way. I highly recommend this. 4.5. [glow=black,2,300]Your standard issue big gun. [/glow]
