I was watching the Megazone 23 Part I commentary track out of sheer rainy day boredom today and it was really quite entertaining. I know Pat told me before, but I usually forget about these things after I'm done watching something. It was interesting to hear about how fans back in the 80's had to shell out hundreds of dollars to get a VHS imported from Japan and how much cheaper laster discs were, the way they tried to figure out what was going on in a time before fansubs, the rise of the OVA format at that time...all fascinating to me, if only because I'm a little too interested in the history of how these things came about. And to think we bitch about 25 dollar dual language DVDs.
So that got me thinking, while anime DVDs usually lack commentary, do you guys know of any others that have an interesting track? I mean, informative, entertaining for some reason, not...dull. These things can sometimes be a huge waste of time if they've got nothing to talk about. I've heard mixed things about the Evangelion Death & Rebirth track and Platinum DVDs.
Now to go check out Gunsmith Cats.
